Call for futures fiction fellowship

BrusselAVenir makes futures stories with and for the people of Brussels. Our first futures story, a live broadcast radio show 20:30 Bruxsels Talks, discussed how Brussels has become climate-proof in the year 2030. Later, we explored how we will live together, and translated the collective and diverse future visions into the audio stories Tram 20.3.0 Talks on encounters on the tram in the year 2030, shared via an audio installation on the tram. We made music tracks of futures with youth talking about being young in Brussels in 2035. During a residency in Slovakia, we’ve created 3 short films with a group of 20 youngsters on how young people will bond in 2035. As artists-in-residence in Zinnema, we made a TV-like show called 20:40 Slessurb Show that hacks all the devices in 2040 in a fictional city called Slessurb, Brussels in reverse, where technology dominates all aspects of everyday life – broadcast for 24 hours on BX1 television. In a residency in Paris we’ve made a zine, a radio show, and a movie about a temporary occupation in Paris in 2050.

Our next project will be audiovisual again. We will form a group of 10 people, from which 5 young film makers, with whom we will make a movie. We will gather 4 times, 2 tot 3 days, between February and May, in Brussels. First we’ll take time to deep dive in the futures of peace. Then we’ll discuss the concept for our video. We’ll have shooting sessions, and will then finalise the postproduction.
